Neuromodulators

When trying to treat lines and wrinkles, many turn to non-invasive injectables such as neuromodulators. Neuromodulators prevent muscle contraction and wrinkle formation in the treated areas. Once the muscle is relaxed, the skin displays a more refined, rejuvenated, youthful look with softened lines and wrinkles.

The most popular neuromodulators used in America are Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. All 4 neuromodulators derive from the Botulinum Toxin A.

BOTOX® Cosmetic – onabotulinumtoxinA, is an FDA-approved to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines look better in adults. Results are visible within 1 -2 days after treatment. Treatments last on average about 3 – 4 months.

DYSPORT® -aboboulinumtoxinA is a natural-looking, fast-acting, long-lasting prescription injection proven to help smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows—without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Results are visible in about 2 -3 days after treatment. Treatments may last up to 5 months.

Jeuveau® – prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs is FDA-approved an prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). Visible results may appear as early as 2 days after treatment. Treatments may last up to 5 months.

XEOMIN® -incobotulinumtoxinA is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults for a short period of time (temporary). Results are visible in about 3-4 days after treatment. Treatments may last up to 3 months.

How It Works

How do Neuromodulators work?

Neuromodulators are peripheral neuromuscular blocking agents that temporarily block the release of neurotransmitters from nerve endings, preventing muscle contraction. When a neuromodulator is injected, it inhibits the muscle from contracting, hence reducing line and wrinkle formation.

What to Expect During Treatment

Before the treatment, we provide a thorough consultation to understand the patient’s concerns and expectations. A very small fine needle is used to inject the neuromodulator into the treatment area. The majority of clients experience very minimal discomfort. A topical anesthetic is available. Pre-medication and PRO-NOX, are also available for use.

The treatment time may vary based on the number of injections needed. On average, treatments take about 15-30 minutes. Clients can return to regular activities once the procedure is completed. There is no downtime.

Results

Results may vary based on the product type, technique, and metabolism of the product. Smoother, younger-looking skin in the treatment area is usually noticeable within a few days. It takes about 2-10 days for the full effect to be noticeable. Treatments last between 3 – 6 months. With regular use, some clients experience longer periods between treatments as the muscles become less conditioned to contract.
